Genesis House is a three story Victorian home on a quiet residential street in Bellevue. It is the only residence of its kind in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Up to eight women at a time may reside at Genesis House, where professional staff provide them and outreach clients with counseling, educational opportunities, and life skills training. Caring staff members are available to provide women with personal support and direction 24 hours a day.
The goal of Genesis House is to provide a self-help, home-like environment aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility and independence. Clients are admitted on a space available basis following an interview and needs assessment. The only requirements are that a prospective resident be pregnant and in need of shelter.
Over the past fifteen years, Genesis House has been a temporary home to nearly 500 young residents. All services are provided free of charge.
