Established in 1973, Genesis of Pittsburgh, Inc. is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian, tax-exempt organization. At Genesis, we believe that every child is a gift and deserves a safe and loving home. We help women in Allegheny and Washington Counties face unplanned pregnancies and create new beginnings for themselves and their children. Genesis is committed to providing a complete spectrum of programs and services that offer positive, life-enhancing solutions to these women and their babies.
Pregnant or think you may be pregnant?
Genesis offers free services ranging from pregnancy testing to housing during your pregnancy to parenting classes and everything in-between. Support is available throughout your pregnancy and baby's first year and beyond.
Considering adoption?
Genesis' licensed, non-profit adoption agency strives to build close, trusting relationships with birth families and adoptive families. Women considering placing their child in a loving adoptive home can explore options, while receiving support for their physical and emotional needs. Housing (if needed) during your pregnancy, prenatal and childbirth classes, and support during labor and delivery are all available through Genesis, as well as counseling and emotional support throughout your pregnancy and for as long as desired after the birth. All services are free, all conversations are strictly confidential, and all decisions are yours to make.
Genesis also works with adoptive families, guiding them through every step of the adoption process. We know that adoption is the investment of a lifetime, and we provide a quality service at a minimal cost to the families we carefully select.
